What to Do in Cornwall

Cornwall has something to offer everyone. Whether you come to Cornwall to relax and enjoy the warm weather of the Cornish Riviera or to explore Cornwall and Devon's wonderful heritage, or for walking, fishing or other sports, Plaidy will provide the ideal base.

Both West Looe and East Looe and the surrounding towns and villages have an abundance of places to eat to suit all pallets and pockets. Relax and enjoy the exquisite Cornish fare and local seafood served up in the restaurants and pubs.

Cornwall has an amazing variety of beautiful beaches to suit all requirements, including sandy beaches, rocky beaches ideal for crabbing, and beaches with fantastic waves for surfing.

Beaches around Looe

There are two main beaches at Looe - Hannafore Beach and Looe Beach - both are very different from each other. For more details of local beaches click here.

The South West Coastal Path

The South West Coastal Path runs its 630 miles from the edge of Exmoor at Minehead on the West Somerset Coast to Poole on the Dorset Coast, passing through Looe on its route. Beautiful short and long walks can be taken along this path from Looe. Walk Westward towards Talland Bay with beautiful views of Looe Island and back towards Rame Head or head off in the direction of Rame Head, passing the beaches of Plaidy, Millendreath, Downderry and Portwrinkle.

Fishing in and around Looe.

The waters off the South East Cornish Coast and the inland lakes and ponds are excellent for fishing. Whether you enjoy coarse fishing, game fishing, crabbing, shark fishing, beach fishing, fishing from the rocks or fishing from a boat, there is something for you near to Looe or off the coast of Looe. For more details click here.

The Eden Project

Visit the Eden Project for a truely great day out. Eden's Visitor Centre opened to the public in May 2000 and the full site in March 2001. Since then it has seen nearly seven million visitors come through the doors and has witnessed the opening of The Core, our new education centre that Tim Smit called "the finest modern building in the world". Eden has played host to huge, world-renowned events such as Live 8 Africa Calling and the Eden Sessions (outdoor summer gigs featuring acts as a diverse as Moby, Keane, Basement Jaxx and Brian Wilson) and wows audiences with its themed seasons such as Bulb Mania in the spring, A Time of Gifts in the winter and Jungle Nights in the summer. Eden, however, like its plants, is always growing and will continue to develop and change. Next in the pipeline is The Edge, but plenty more is planned.

Theatre

Visit the historic Barbican in Plymouth and discover where Sir Francis Drake sailed from and see the Mayflower Steps where the Pilgrim Fathers departed to settle in the New World. Visit the Barbican Theatre for interesting arts and music performances or visit the Theatre Royal for shows and musicals.

The Lost Gardens of Heligan.

Visit the the Lost Gardens of Heligan for a memorable day out. For those that love to wander around beautiful gardens this is a must.
